The trains have 10 percent higher capacity than older trains. And with their air conditioning, digital travel information, multi-purpose areas, and designated wheelchair space, they go straight to the heart of passenger demands for comfort and accessibility.
The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan went on to stress that the investment is a crucial move to make public transport increasingly modern. He revealed that the new fleet will revolutionize travel by providing safer, cleaner, and increasingly reliable services to millions of passengers on the network.
New DLR trains sustain long-term urban expansion
The Transport Commissioner of London Andy Lord emphasized that new design and technology will enhance reliability and cope with increased demand. He made an addition that the commuters will enjoy increased service frequencies, comfort, and network resilience.

In the months to come, new trains will be introduced. And with each introduction building capacity, the improvements will enable the Docklands Light Railway to accommodate new homes, new jobs, and sustainable economic life in Stratford, Woolwich Arsenal, and the Isle of Dogs.
These improvements will complement London’s broader transport modernization plan. The capital wants to enhance efficiency, minimize hold-ups, and provide accessibility, and make east and south London continue to compete as key centers of accommodation and work.
