New Czech Railways night train from Prague to Ukraine border
01.12.2025
Czech Railways night train from Prague to Ukraine border will start running from 14 December, when České dráhy brings a new overnight Prague–Przemyśl service into its Central European night-train portfolio.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The direct route in south-eastern Poland improves access to the Polish–Ukrainian border area and slots into the operator’s wider night network, as reported by Railway Pro.
Czech Railways night train from Prague to Ukraine border: timetable and route
The new Prague–Przemyśl night train is operated as part of EN 443 Slovakia and is scheduled to run every day. The Prague to Ukraine border night train leaves the Czech capital at 22:16, reaching Przemyśl at 10:10 the following morning, with convenient calls in Kraków and Rzeszów and a final arrival at the key interchange station in Przemyśl.

In the opposite direction, the train departs Przemyśl at 17:51 and arrives in Prague at 07:46, giving passengers a full overnight journey in both directions. Travellers can find detailed timings and the train’s composition in the official EN 443 Slovakia timetable published by České dráhy.
Connections with Ukrainian Railways (UZ) to Lviv, Kyiv and Kharkiv
A crucial part of the concept is the coordinated timetable with Ukrainian Railways (UZ). In both directions, the service is organised so that passengers can make same-day transfers in Przemyśl to UZ trains running to Lviv, Kyiv and Kharkiv, and use the same hub for their return trips towards Prague. The transfer windows are set to allow time for border procedures while still keeping the overall journey workable as a through night-train option from Prague to Lviv and further into Ukraine.
“By launching a direct night train to south-eastern Poland and as far as the Ukrainian border, we are responding to growing demand for comfortable overnight travel to this region. Together with the Ukrainian national carrier, we will offer passengers a journey into the Ukrainian interior with only one transfer,” said Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board and CEO of České dráhy.
He also pointed to the broader trend behind this move: “Night trains have been experiencing a renaissance across Europe and České dráhy has successfully embraced this trend. We plan to continue expanding services into regions where we see high demand for rail travel, and Poland and Ukraine clearly belong among them.”
Bcmz 834 sleeper coach, women-only compartment and onboard services
The Prague–Przemyśl night train consist is set up to offer upgraded overnight comfort. It combines a classic second-class compartment coach with a fully modernised, air-conditioned Bcmz 834 sleeper coach that has eight compartments arranged in 4- or 6-berth layouts. Passengers can book entire compartments under Single, Double or Triple options, and a women-only compartment is reserved exclusively for female travellers to provide additional privacy and a greater sense of security.
The sleeper coach comes with an enhanced onboard service model. The sleeper supplement covers a light breakfast with water and a hot drink, and beds are made up in advance with blankets and pillows.
An onboard attendant is present throughout the journey, looking after safety and helping maintain a quiet atmosphere during the night. On top of that, a selection of snacks and drinks is available for purchase, adding extra comfort on this cross-border night-train route.
Prague–Warsaw night train timetable change and wider network
The December timetable change will also upgrade the existing Prague–Warsaw night train. The sleeper coach on this route will be routed via a shorter path, bringing the new arrival time in Warsaw to 08:00 — more than an hour earlier than under the previous schedule. This tweak strengthens the overnight link between Prague and the Polish capital while complementing the new Prague–Przemyśl night train.
In the 2026 timetable, České dráhy and its partners will operate nine year-round and two seasonal night routes. On five of these lines, the carrier will provide its own sleeper and couchette coaches. On services to Poprad-Tatry, Košice and Humenné, the company will keep offering its traditional car-carrying service. The broader 2026 long-distance and night-train concept of ČD, including new international links, has also been outlined by Railway Supply, which looks at Czech Railways’ future timetable plans.
Within the Czech Republic, night trains already serve more than twenty destinations and maintain year-round connections to over 60 cities in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
Together with the new Prague–Przemyśl night train and the adjusted Prague–Warsaw night train timetable, this network underscores the growing role of České dráhy in the European night train market between Central Europe and the Ukrainian border.
