New Baltic Express Will Cut Travel Time from Prague to Gdańsk by Three Hours
19.08.2024
Czech Railways (ČD) have announced the launch of a new express route, Baltic Express, set to begin operation in 2025, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This significant schedule change will reduce the travel time from Prague to Gdańsk by three hours. The new route will be a major improvement for travelers between the Czech Republic and Poland, providing fast and comfortable journeys for both tourists and business travelers.
According to the new schedule, the Baltic Express will operate four round trips per day.
Trains will depart from Prague at 7:50, 11:00, 15:00, and 19:00. Along the way, trains will stop in Czech cities such as Kolín, Pardubice, and Letohrad.
After crossing the border, the trains will continue through Kłodzko, Wrocław, Poznań, and Bydgoszcz, reaching their final destinations in Gdańsk, Sopot, and Gdynia. The entire journey is expected to take just over eight hours.
The Baltic Express will feature modern carriages with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and power outlets for charging devices.
There will also be special carriages for wheelchairs and bicycles. ČD Minibar catering service will be available on the trains.
In addition to launching the Baltic Express, Czech Railways plans to introduce new ComfortJet trains on domestic and international routes.
Specifically, these trains will operate on lines connecting Prague with Ústí nad Labem and Brno, as well as on international routes.
However, it is worth noting that construction work is planned at the Prague railway hub, which may affect the routes of some trains.
In particular, international services such as EC Sobieski will terminate in Warsaw, requiring passengers to transfer to other lines.
Thus, the introduction of the Baltic Express will be a significant step towards improving transportation between the Czech Republic and Poland, enhancing both efficiency and comfort.
