Together with primary contractor AmcoGiffen, Network Rail has constructed a complex at the base of the landmark, which sits 100 feet above the River Finnan on the West Highland Line, 17 miles from Fort William.
This work is part of Network Rail’s ongoing maintenance program and will help preserve the viaduct for the future.
Completion is expected in just under 12 months, during which engineers will assess the viaduct’s condition and strength, as well as make improvements under the tracks to ensure the stone ballast remains in place.
