Network Rail Modernizes Telecommunication Infrastructure. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The British rail infrastructure operator, Network Rail, has signed a contract with Telent for the reconstruction of communication systems in the Wales and Western region, which includes London, Penzance, Bristol, Cotswolds, and all of Wales.

Upgrading Communication Systems on Network Rail’s Railways
Telent will modernize critical operational communication components, including video surveillance, public address, and passenger information systems. This will enhance security and improve service quality at stations such as Temple Meads in Bristol.
Network Rail Infrastructure Development and Power Supply Modernization
Additionally, Telent will collaborate with Network Rail on a program to modernize the power supply for 480 nodes of the fixed telecommunication network. This will improve communication quality and ensure the smooth operation of the entire system.
The contract is scheduled to be completed by March 2029, marking the end of the seventh five-year control period, CP7, with the possibility of extension into the next period, CP8.
If the project is successful, further collaboration will be considered, ensuring sustainable development of telecommunication infrastructure on the UK’s railways.
