Navi Mumbai suburban rail services on the Belapur/Nerul–Uran corridor will be expanded from Monday to support connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, railway officials said, as reported by The Times of India.

The change brings five additional pairs of trains and the commissioning of two new stops—Targhar station and Gavan station.

After the increase, the Uran line will operate 50 services a day, up from 40, a shift also described in a PTI report in ThePrint, aimed at easing peak-hour crowding and giving commuters in Navi Mumbai more options.

Belapur/Nerul–Uran corridor upgrades

Officials said Targhar, located close to the airport site, is expected to strengthen last-mile links. Gavan will improve suburban rail access for nearby residential areas, as noted by mid-day.com.

Uran line suburban services: extended operating hours

Service timings on the corridor have also been lengthened. Trains from Uran will operate from 5.35 am to 10.05 pm. Services from Belapur will run between 5.45 am and 10.15 pm, and trains from Nerul will be available from 6.05 am to 9.30 pm.

Railway officials said the combination of more trains, longer operating hours and the two new stations is intended to make daily travel smoother and more convenient. Passengers have been advised to take note of the revised schedule while planning their journeys.
