Mumbai Metro Line 2B contract for seven elevated stations
17.12.2025
Mumbai Metro Line 2B contract progress has moved forward, with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) awarding a Rs. 201.49 crore package to DEV–N.ROSE (JV), as reported by Rail Analysis.

The work covers architectural finishing and essential station infrastructure for seven elevated stations on the D.N. Nagar to Mandale corridor.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Metro Line 2B contract scope and stations
The package is intended to bring the stations to a functional, passenger-ready standard. It includes interior fit-outs, the design and construction of external facades, and core utility systems—covering water supply systems, sanitary installations, and drainage infrastructure.

MMRDA said the activities will be carried out across seven elevated metro stations. Three are listed as iconic stations—ITO, ILFS, and MTNL—while four are standard elevated stations at S.G. Barve Marg, Kurla East, EEH, and Chembur. Taken together, the scope concentrates on station readiness along this stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 2B.
Contract value, taxes and bid outcome
The awarded amount is Rs. 201,49,23,629.58, excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). MMRDA noted that the bid was finalized at 14 percent below the estimated cost, indicating a competitively priced outcome in the tender process.
As set out in the contract terms, the figure accounts for applicable central, state, and local taxes, duties, levies, and other incidental charges, with GST excluded from the stated value. The package is positioned as a cost-efficient step within the broader build-out of the Metro Line 2B corridor, while keeping the financial framework aligned with tender requirements.
Timeline, Notice to Proceed and conditions
MMRDA said the Letter of Acceptance will also serve as a Notice to Proceed, allowing the contractor to begin work immediately. The execution period is 15 months, and delivery is tied to the technical specifications included in the tender documents.
The conditions also require DEV–N.ROSE (JV) to furnish performance security within 30 days of receiving the Letter of Acceptance. Until a formal agreement is executed, the Letter of Acceptance remains binding between MMRDA and the contractor, supporting continuity in obligations while the full agreement process is completed.
Why the finishing package matters for Line 2B?
Architectural finishing works are framed as a critical piece of metro station readiness because they influence passenger experience, safety, and station aesthetics. Interior fit-outs and external facades shape usability and the look-and-feel of the infrastructure, while water supply and drainage systems are essential for making stations fully operational and commuter-friendly.
Metro Line 2B is described as a vital east–west link in Mumbai’s expanding metro network, with expectations that it will ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between the western suburbs and eastern corridors.
For corridor context, MMRDA provides a project overview on its Metro Line 2B page, while Railway Supply has also referenced Line 2B as an east–west connector in its coverage (Railway Supply).
Against that backdrop, the text frames timely station infrastructure delivery as important for meeting the corridor’s broader operational timelines and supporting modern, well-designed urban transit facilities.
