The 767-kilometer high-speed rail line will connect Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad, with 11 planned stations across Maharashtra and Telangana. The project targets faster, safer, and more efficient travel.

Authorities initiated the tendering process back in October 2020. Although construction hasn’t started yet, the Mumbai–Hyderabad Bullet Train remains a top national priority.

Mumbai–Hyderabad Bullet Train to Feature World-Class Tech

Engineers have designed the system for maximum speeds of 350 km/h and an average speed of 320 km/h. Standard gauge (1435 mm) tracks and 25 kV AC overhead catenary will support the electric trains.

Digital DS-ATC signaling will ensure smooth and safe operations. Each train will carry up to 750 passengers and feature UrEDAS, a seismic detection system that automatically applies emergency brakes when earthquakes occur.

Strategic Stations Along the Mumbai–Hyderabad Bullet Train Route

The 11 stations include Bandra Kurla Complex (Mumbai), Navi Mumbai, Lonavala, Pune, Kurkumb/Daund, Akluj, Pandharpur, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Zaheerabad, and Hyderabad. Each location was selected to optimize regional access.

These stations aim to support regional development and reduce travel time between economic hubs. The rail line is expected to boost investment and attract business growth across the corridor.

While exact project costs remain undisclosed, analysts estimate billions in infrastructure investment. According to current exchange rates, the figure could exceed $12 billion, depending on land acquisition and construction phases.

The bullet train will not only transform intercity travel but also redefine India’s transport future. Stakeholders expect a surge in tourism, commerce, and employment along the route.

By delivering speed, safety, and sustainable connectivity, this corridor highlights India’s broader goal to modernize its transportation ecosystem.
