The Mumbai Central Railway megablock on the suburban network will affect commuters on Sunday, as the Mumbai Division carries out essential engineering and maintenance work.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Central Railway will extend platforms at CSMT to accommodate 15-car trains, and this project aims to expand capacity, reduce congestion, and improve commuter safety across Mumbai’s suburban rail network by December.

The plan was outlined by The Times of India. Western Railway suburban services, meanwhile, will run without a day block on their routes, a detail also highlighted by Lokmat Times.

On the Harbour Line, services between Panvel and Vashi (excluding the PORT Line) will be suspended from 11.05am to 4.05pm. Up Harbour Line trains towards CSMT leaving Panvel between 10.33am and 3.49pm, as well as Down Harbour Line services to Belapur and Panvel departing CSMT between 9.45am and 3.12pm, will be cancelled for the duration of the megablock.

The Trans-Harbour Line will face similar disruption. Up services towards Thane leaving Panvel between 11.02am and 3.53pm and Down services towards Panvel departing Thane between 10.01am and 3.20pm will not run during the block.

While the Mumbai Central Railway megablock is in effect, special local trains will operate on the CSMT–Vashi route, Trans-Harbour services will continue between Thane–Vashi/Nerul, and PORT Line services will remain available throughout this period.
