Multimodal freight advocacy: CAGTC marks 25-year milestone
09.01.2026
Multimodal freight advocacy is at the center of a 2026 milestone for the Coalition for America’s Gateways and Trade Corridors (CAGTC), which is marking 25 years of work focused on the national freight transportation network, as reported by Progressive Railroading.

Multimodal freight advocacy and the CAGTC mission
Made up of more than 60 member organizations, CAGTC brings together state departments of transportation, port and transit authorities, metropolitan planning agencies, engineering firms and railroad associations.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Founded in 2001, the nonprofit trade association has promoted supply chain efficiency and economic competitiveness by urging federal funding for infrastructure projects and positioning goods movement as a national priority.

Immediate Past Chair Paul Anderson—president and CEO of Port Tampa Bay—said in a press release that CAGTC has helped reshape how the country understands and invests in freight infrastructure over the past 25 years. He said the coalition’s work has moved from early efforts to secure a seat at the table and advocate for dedicated freight programs to today’s conversations about supply chain preparedness and adapting to changing demands, while maintaining a constant, steady voice.
“Voices of Freight” speaker series and industry focus
To commemorate the anniversary, CAGTC is launching a “Voices of Freight” speaker series featuring national industry experts. The series will share insight into federal funding programs, emerging technologies and best practices in project planning—topics that align with the coalition’s focus on goods movement and the national freight transportation network.
Annual meeting on April 22 in Washington, D.C.
CAGTC also will host an anniversary celebration during its annual meeting on April 22 in Washington, D.C., as outlined in the CAGTC’s 25th Anniversary Celebration announcement. The event is set up as another opportunity to reflect on the coalition’s 25-year role in freight infrastructure conversations and its continuing emphasis on multimodal freight advocacy.
