Moldova Needs Railway Connections with Romania and the EU

Moldova’s Prime Minister, Dorin Rechanc, requested the Minister of Transport, Andrey Spinu, during a Cabinet meeting to present a vision for the development of the transport sector “as the ministers of interior and education did.” as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
The Minister of Transport is expected to present projects related to railway connections with the western part of the country.
“It’s about a long-term vision, as well as the next 9 quarters regarding land, railways, ports, and air infrastructure. Equally important is that every village has water, sewerage, and proper drainage. As for long-term projects, they should connect Moldova with Romania and the EU through railways and highways. You must ensure the implementation of these projects,” said Dorin Rechanc, as reported by moldpres.md.

The government meeting’s agenda includes 22 items, including the approval of the Urban Planning Code, initiating negotiations for a loan from Poland to support small and medium-sized enterprises, an agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of Iceland on air communication, and decisions regarding the reorganization of certain vocational-technical education institutions and the approval of the “e-Admission” Information System Concept in higher education.
Andrey Spinu assumed the position of Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development on July 17, following the resignation of Lilia Dabija. He recently visited Bucharest for negotiations with his Romanian counterpart, Sorin Grindeanu.
