MPK Poznań signed the contract for the first batch of 10 units in September 2023. In July 2024, the operator exercised an option for a further 20 cars. The first 10 trams were handed over by the end of June 2025, and the remaining vehicles arrived early as well — a delivery timeline described by MPK Poznań. The purchase was backed by European Union funding: EU funds covered 85% of the total order value.

The delivered vehicles are low-floor trams about 32 metres long. Each can carry up to 240 passengers, with 46 seats available. On-board equipment includes air-conditioning and CCTV systems, as well as ergonomic seating.

Four ramps are provided to support boarding and alighting for passengers with prams and for people with reduced mobility. These features are part of the standard specification of the cars added to the MPK Poznań fleet.

Moderus Gamma LF 04 AC BD features

The Moderus Gamma LF 04 AC BD is built in a bi-directional configuration, with two driver’s cabs and doors on both sides. This allows the vehicles to operate on routes without a turning loop; additional background on Moderus Gamma trams in Poznań is available from Railway Supply.

MPK Poznań fleet and further procurement plans

According to current figures, MPK Poznań operates 208 low-floor tram cars, which represents 85% of its fleet. Of these, 60 units have two driver’s cabs.

In parallel, the operator held a tender for 10 more low-floor trams with a single driver’s cab, with an option for 20 additional units. Delivery of these vehicles is scheduled for the end of 2028. Modertrans is among the applicants that submitted a bid.
