The Ministry plans to conduct dredging works in the Kurik port waters in 2024 and in the Aktau port in 2025,” said Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev during a departmental meeting, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
According to him, in collaboration with the Chinese company Lianyungang Port, they will start building a container hub in the port of Aktau, with expectations to increase container shipments to 300,000 TEUs.

Additionally, the Minister discussed plans to modernize the berthing infrastructure of the Aktau port and construct three new terminals in the Kurik port.
The development of terminals in both ports is expected to cost $618 million.
