Although the LAX People Mover is still under construction, free shuttle buses will operate every 10 minutes from the station to all terminals.

Metro Chair Janice Hahn praised the opening, saying it brings LA closer to having a true international airport linked by public transit.

Local officials, including Hahn, LA Mayor Karen Bass, and others, are expected to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon.

The Metro Transit Center station will officially open to passengers at 5 p.m.

New Metro Transit Center station connects key rail lines

With this addition, K Line trains now run directly from Redondo Beach to the E Line, eliminating the shuttle transfer previously required at Aviation/Century.

The C Line has also been adjusted to terminate at the new station instead of Redondo Beach, streamlining transfers between routes.

Travelers will enjoy better connectivity and reduced travel times across the west side of LA thanks to this new infrastructure.

Metro Transit Center station enhances airport accessibility

The station includes a 16-bay bus plaza, a pedestrian plaza, a secure bike hub, and designated areas for passenger drop-off and pick-up.

To celebrate the opening, Metro is offering free rides on all bus and rail services from Friday through Sunday.

Metro describes the site as a creative gateway to Los Angeles, integrating air travel with the region’s expanding light rail system.

This launch marks a major advance in transit equity and convenience for airport passengers and daily commuters alike.
