Construction of all three Line C sections finishes by 2033. Hitachi Rail Italy Driverless Metro trains operate on the route.

Rome Metro Modernization

These trains already function in Milan and even in Greece. Hitachi Rail provides reliability and modern technology for metro systems.

Rome actively upgrades its metro fleet alongside network expansion efforts. In 2022, authorities signed a $284 million deal with Hitachi Rail.

The agreement covers supplying up to 30 new metro trains. Of these, 14 units are ordered, including 12 for Line B.

The remaining two trains head to Line A for better service. Initial deliveries planned for December 2024 shifted to spring 2026.

Now trains arrive in Rome only by spring 2026. The city council aims to speed up transport upgrades and comfort.

Line C’s expansion project attracts tourists and boosts residents’ mobility. Because authorities heavily invest in Italy’s capital infrastructure.

Modern technology and new stations make metro travel more convenient. Thus, the government supports public transport growth nationwide.
