Metrans Launches Innovative Containers for Car Transport: New Opportunities for Logistics
22.08.2024
The logistics company Metrans continues to expand its capabilities in freight transportation by launching innovative containers designed for car transport, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These newly designed containers were developed in partnership with the Slovenian company Container d.o.o. and the Austrian SSC Railtec, highlighting international collaboration in creating high-tech logistics infrastructure.

The new 20-foot containers are made of reinforced steel, ensuring high strength and durability. They are designed to transport up to two cars of various sizes, with a total weight of up to 4.2 tons.
This solution allows the integration of these containers into existing intermodal routes, utilizing both rail and road transport.
It is important to note that these containers are fully compatible with the 80-foot Sggns XL platforms produced by TATRAVAGONKA, which can accommodate up to four such containers.

The first automotive container of this design was introduced by Metrans in February 2024, demonstrating the company’s commitment to implementing advanced technologies and enhancing the efficiency of logistics operations.
This step is part of Metrans’ broader strategy to strengthen intermodality and automate freight transportation, a strategy that has been underway for several years.
It is worth recalling that in 2021, Metrans Rail, in collaboration with the German company RailWatch, launched a €3.5 million project aimed at creating “digital twins” of freight cars. This project allowed for the automation of rolling stock condition monitoring, significantly improving the safety and efficiency of transport operations.
Additionally, the company developed the automated transit system NCTS-P5 for Slovakia, as well as an electronic vehicle monitoring system for Romania, further solidifying its position in the European market.
The launch of new car containers is another step by Metrans toward improving logistics services and expanding the range of offerings for its customers.
The introduction of innovations and international collaboration enables the company to maintain a high level of competitiveness and adapt to the changing market demands.
The new equipment, including containers and platforms, will become an important part of Metrans’ comprehensive transport solutions, allowing the company’s clients to effectively utilize both rail and road infrastructure.
