Maritime transport supports growing port volumes

DP World London Gateway, a critical part of the Asia–Europe Gemini Cooperation network, is undergoing a £1 billion upgrade. This investment aims to increase capacity and reinforce the port’s strategic role.

Maritime Transport is scaling operations to match this growth. According to John Bailey, Managing Director of Intermodal, the new services are crucial for meeting rising demand and promoting rail over road across freight corridors.

Maritime transport plans future UK rail connections

The company will expand services from Felixstowe to Manchester, London Gateway to the East Midlands, and Southampton to SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton. These routes will integrate seamlessly with its nine-terminal rail network.

Julie Garn, Intermodal Director at GB Railfreight, said these developments reflect the power of long-term collaboration. By shifting freight to rail, both companies contribute to more sustainable, lower-carbon logistics.

This expansion signals Maritime’s continued commitment to transforming UK freight transport—making it cleaner, faster, and better connected.
