Maersk’s first block train from China to Georgia
Maersk (integrated container logistics company) launched block train from China to Georgia on a regular basis. Last week the first train has delivered 41 container. It took 24 days for it.

Maersk invests in its logistics infrastructure and actively develops intermodal land transportation under a new strategy of creating a “global integrator in the container logistics industry.” Three years ago they began to develop connection between Asia and Europe rail networks, as «Railway Supply» reports referring Maersk website.
“We arranged this special service specifically for Georgian customers, and we plan to develop block train solutions for the whole Caucasus Region”, comments Irakli Danelia, Georgia Commercial Representative at Maersk.
In 2020 Maersk launched block trains on the following routes:
- Northern Euriope — Asia
- China — Turkey
- Rotterdam – Xi’a
Maersk have made huge progress during the past years and the service has been extended to 18 corridors in 9 countries.
