Transport for London (TfL) has signed a £43 million contract with Balfour Beatty for the modernization of the Piccadilly Line on the London Underground, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.

Under this contract, Balfour Beatty will undertake significant work to modernize the Piccadilly Line, ensuring increased traction power required for the next generation of Piccadilly Line trains.

This work will also help boost capacity along the route, enhancing the overall passenger experience.

In particular, Balfour Beatty will be responsible for the design, delivery, and installation of new assets at the Hatton Cross and Hounslow substations.

This will include rectifier transformers, high and low voltage distribution boards, direct current distribution boards, auxiliary transformers, and related cable routes.

The project is scheduled to commence at the end of 2023, with completion in 2026.
