The issue was discussed at a meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea and Secretary of State Mircea Păscăluță. JICA representatives also took part. As reported by RailwayPro, the agenda covered both railway infrastructure and logistics.
During the talks, a report prepared with Japanese support was presented. The study examined transport flows across different modes. It reviewed imports and exports. It also assessed demand for logistics services in the Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. The study provides a detailed overview of regional transport dynamics.

Grant programmes and CFM modernisation
The parties also reviewed opportunities for cooperation through short- and medium-term grant programmes. They focus on the development of transport and logistics infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova.
A separate topic was the CFM modernisation project. According to MOLDPRES, it involves machinery, specialised vehicles and rail vehicles for CFM. These are needed for infrastructure maintenance.
Study visits to Japan
The meeting also covered the possibility of study visits to Japan for representatives of Moldovan institutions. The aim was to learn from Japanese experience and railway best practices.
