The Polish freight railway carrier Rail STM has decided to purchase four Newag Dragon locomotives, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The locomotives, costing over 17.3 million euros, will come with a two-year quality guarantee and will be equipped for both direct and alternating current systems (3 kV DC / 25 kV AC).

The Union of Railway Workers of Ukraine has called on the government to allocate the profit of Ukrainian Railways (UZ) to raise wages

It is anticipated that they will begin to be delivered in 2025. After delivery, Rail STM’s fleet will consist of six Dragon locomotives.

Rail STM primarily transports coal to Poland, and with the new locomotives, an expansion of transportation beyond the borders is expected.

As reported earlier, the Polish carrier Olavion will acquire an additional four Newag Dragon locomotives.
