SUST investigates the locomotive accident in St. Gallen
Train services between St. Gallen and Goldach/Rorschach were temporarily suspended due to the accident. Some routes were canceled, while others were redirected. The operator arranged for bus replacements to reduce passenger inconvenience.
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (SUST) immediately launched an inquiry into the incident. Investigators are focusing on whether safety protocols were properly followed.
Locomotive collision linked to coordination failure
Preliminary findings point to a possible coordination error between technical teams. Experts suspect that human error may have played a decisive role in the crash.
The technical assessment is ongoing. Its conclusions may lead to stricter safety regulations for track operations and updates to infrastructure work protocols.
