Alstom Expands Mátranovák Factory to Boost European Rail Production

Alstom is expanding its Mátranovák factory in Hungary with a €1.5M investment, boosting production by 40%. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

France-based Alstom is constructing a new 827-square-meter logistics hall at its Mátranovák facility. This €1.5M investment concludes the “Mátranovák 2030” development program.

The project will increase production capacity by 40% and strengthen Hungary’s role in European rail manufacturing. Construction starts in spring and will finish within a year, positioning Mátranovák as Alstom’s largest bogie frame site in Europe.
Alstom’s Contribution to Hungary’s Rail Industry
Alstom employs 720 skilled professionals at its Mátranovák factory, the largest employer in Nógrád County. The site has been producing bogie frames for over 40 years, essential for safe railway operations. Alstom has modernized Hungary’s metro system, delivering 50% of Budapest’s M2 and M4 trains, including the first driverless metro in Central and Eastern Europe.
