LLC «MLRP» Presents the Upgraded TEM2U Locomotive: Modernization for Maximum Efficiency

In early August, specialists from LLC «MLRP» successfully completed a major overhaul of the TEM2U series locomotive, designed to meet the needs of the Southern Mining and Processing Plant located in Kryvyi Rih.

The result of this work is virtually a new locomotive, retaining only the name of its predecessor.

The complete reconstruction included the replacement of almost all major components and systems.

Specifically, a new diesel generator set with a modern, fuel-efficient engine was installed, significantly reducing fuel consumption.

Additionally, a microprocessor control system was implemented, allowing for more precise control of the locomotive’s operations and enhancing its performance characteristics.

The electric transmission was replaced with a modern AC/DC system, which increased overall reliability and extended the equipment’s service life.

Special attention was given to the new electrical equipment and rotary vane compressor, which significantly improved the overall performance of the locomotive.

A noteworthy innovation was the installation of an ergonomic control cabin, providing comfortable working conditions for the operators.

The results of the modernization are impressive. The TEM2U series locomotive has become more economical, environmentally friendly, and safe!

Harmful emissions have been reduced, fuel efficiency has been improved, and both power and performance have been increased, making this locomotive even more competitive under modern operating conditions.
