Lisbon Metro received four competitive bids for the Odivelas–Loures Light Rail Transit project, known as the Violet Line, with a base contract price set at €600 million. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The bidding groups include MasterStylo, Mota Engil with Zagope and Spie Batignolles, Teixeira Duarte with multiple partners, and FCC Construcción with Comsa and Fergrupo. Officials will announce bid values after the legal complaint period ends.

Investment Details for Lisbon Violet Line

The tender covers light rail design and construction, urban redevelopment, land expropriation studies, and supply of 12 Light Rail Vehicles. It also includes three years of infrastructure and vehicle maintenance.

Overall investment reaches €677.5 million, with €77.5 million allocated to expropriation and advisory services. The line spans 11.5 km, featuring 17 stations, including three underground, plus a depot and operational workshops.

Lisbon Project Scope and Updated Costs

Loures will gain nine stations over 6.4 km, while Odivelas will add eight stations along 5.1 km. The first tender in March 2024 failed because bids exceeded the budget by 46%.

To address market changes, officials increased the investment by €150.2 million, aligning costs with updated construction prices. This ensures a competitive process and timely completion of Lisbon’s modern LRT system.
