Akiem was previously owned by SNCF, but in 2022 it was sold to CDPQ, a pension fund based in the Canadian province of Quebec. Today, Akiem manages 750 locomotives and 42 passenger trains.

Lineas continues to grow its logistics network and expand its fleet. The company currently operates 240 locomotives, 6,200 freight cars, and employs more than 1,600 people, including over 500 train drivers.

Rental as the Core of Lineas’ Strategy

Long-term rental enables Lineas to respond quickly to market demand, control expenses, and avoid large capital investments in rolling stock. This is especially important amid growing competition.

In addition, Akiem’s maintenance service helps reduce operational risks. This approach ensures reliable operations across key European markets including Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Benefits of Renting Locomotives from Akiem

The agreement with Akiem strengthens Lineas’ market position by providing flexible fleet scaling. Leasing helps the company adapt quickly to changes without delays or downtime.

As a result, Lineas continues to modernize its fleet, optimize logistics, and improve transport reliability while maintaining financial stability.
