The municipal enterprise “Kyiv Metro” has received another set of six train cars from the Warsaw metro, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
Kyiv has already received 36 Polish train cars out of the planned 60. The transportation of the remaining 24 train cars (4 sets) is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

“For the capital metro, this is important and necessary technical assistance since train cars of the same series operate on the lines of the capital’s subway. The received trains will primarily be used as technical donors for conducting major repairs to the existing rolling stock and creating a spare parts reserve,” noted the press service of Kyiv Metro.
At the same time, the enterprise’s specialists are exploring various options for the effective use of this technical assistance.
The Warsaw metro has transferred 60 train cars of series No. 81, which were withdrawn from service in the Warsaw metro, to Kyiv Metro.
The phased transportation of rolling stock began at the end of April.
