The Gulf Railway will connect Kuwait to Oman’s capital, Muscat, spanning 2,177 kilometers through Saudi Arabia and beyond. Kuwait establishes itself as the northern hub, uniting six GCC nations efficiently.
Proyapi won the consultancy contract in January for $8.1 million, roughly 2.5 million Kuwaiti dinars. The company will complete the design within a year, targeting construction by 2030.
Inside Kuwait, the railway covers 111 kilometers from Nuwaiseeb near Saudi Arabia to Al-Shadadiya up north. This segment enhances trade and travel, linking the region seamlessly.
Ahmed Al-Saleh from the Ministry of Public Works praised the signing as a key milestone. He told reporters the deal sets the project on a clear, actionable path.
Gulf Rail Link Gains Momentum Across the Region
Construction progresses in the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, following the 2009 GCC agreement. Kuwait now accelerates its efforts, aligning with the broader railway vision.
However, Al-Saleh cautioned that the total cost remains uncertain until Proyapi finishes the design. Analysts expect more details as the consultancy phase advances next year.
This railway promises economic growth, and it strengthens connectivity across the Gulf Cooperation Council region. Kuwait’s bold step reinforces its leadership in this transformative project.
The project stalled earlier, but Monday’s contract signals fresh momentum and firm commitment. Officials predict the railway will revolutionize transportation by 2030, benefiting millions.
Gulf Rail Link Nears Reality with Expert Design
Kuwait drives progress, and the deal with Proyapi highlights a strategic push for regional integration. The railway inches closer to uniting Gulf nations through modern infrastructure.
Officials express confidence, noting the design phase lays a strong foundation for timely execution. Proyapi’s expertise ensures the project meets top standards with precision.
Meanwhile, stakeholders await updates on funding and timelines, eager for the next steps. Success depends on collaboration, and Kuwait exemplifies proactive leadership here.
Ultimately, the railway will transform travel, trade, and economic ties across the Gulf region. Kuwait’s latest move heightens excitement for a connected future soon.
