Theft of cables near Lille Europe station caused serious disruption to train services between Lille and Arras, with delays expected to last at least until the evening

Theft directly affected TGV routes, increasing travel time by approximately one hour. SNCF urged passengers to check the latest schedules and plan for possible changes.

Routes affected due to railway infrastructure theft

The railway company stated that high-speed services were the most affected. Trains now operate via alternative routes, which significantly increases travel time.

Several services were completely canceled to avoid congestion on detour lines. Passengers are eligible for compensation under SNCF’s refund policy.

Cable theft poses a systemic threat to French railways

Such incidents are recurring. In March, unknown individuals stole several hundred meters of cable in the Haut-Rhin department, and in February a similar theft occurred near Lille.

SNCF is cooperating with police to investigate the matter and is enhancing its security measures. The company is investing in surveillance and protection systems to reduce future risks.
