Contracts and Agreements at InnoTrans 2024: Key Industry Highlights

Among the most notable contracts was the partnership between Talgo and Pesa. They agreed to manufacture high-speed trains for Poland, capable of reaching 250 km/h. The project will start delivering trains by 2025. It supports the “Solidarity” transport hub initiative, which includes the construction of 2,000 km of new high-speed rail lines.

Another major development was the framework agreement between SBB Cargo and Stadler. This agreement will provide up to 129 hybrid electric locomotives. The first order of 36 locomotives will replace aging models. This is part of SBB Cargo’s fleet modernization program, which includes replacing 200 locomotives. Hybrid technology is becoming increasingly important for the future of rail transport.
New Railway Projects and Partnerships at InnoTrans 2024
Skoda Group signed two important memorandums with Hyundai. The first agreement focuses on cooperation with Hyundai Rotem to deliver high-speed rolling stock for international projects. The second memorandum provides Skoda with access to hydrogen fuel cell technology. This technology will be used in future eco-friendly railway solutions. Both agreements mark a significant step in the development of green transportation.
At the same time, Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR) secured an agreement with Deutsche Bahn (DB) for the maintenance of the Haramain high-speed rail line. This agreement emphasizes the importance of reliable railway operations. SAR also signed a contract with the EULYNX consortium to standardize signaling systems, reducing operational costs and improving efficiency.
Additionally, Progress Rail signed a five-year contract with the UK’s Network Rail to supply railway switches and crossings. The contract will be fulfilled at British plants in South Queensferry and Nottingham. This partnership will contribute to strengthening the UK’s railway infrastructure.
