Knorr-Bremse Secures Major Contract for Rome Metro Trains

Knorr-Bremse has signed a new supply deal with Hitachi Rail to outfit up to 30 Rome Metro trains with advanced systems designed for urban rail performance and passenger safety. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The initial phase includes 14 trains, with an option for 16 more. Knorr-Bremse will deliver top-tier braking, coupling, and entrance systems to enhance metro reliability and operational efficiency.

The company’s FlexControl Modular brake units and WheelGrip technology ensure accurate, consistent braking across varied operating conditions. These systems are crucial for meeting strict safety demands in busy metro environments.
Knorr-Bremse will also supply coupling technology, including AutoLink front couplers and ShortLink semi-permanent models. These components are tailored for Rome’s fleet and are built for durability and easy maintenance.
Under its IFE brand, Knorr-Bremse provides entrance systems that are lightweight, robust, and optimized for frequent metro door cycles. These systems help reduce maintenance needs while supporting seamless operations.
