Knorr-Bremse expands its technology center in India

The Indian technology center of Knorr-Bremse, located in Pune, has been expanded to enhance its capabilities, covering both the railway and commercial transport sectors, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
The company recently inaugurated a new complex within the interdivisional development center TCI, where approximately 1,300 experts will work on developing innovative transportation technologies.
Key areas of focus include mechanical engineering, hardware and software, IT, and modeling.

Knorr-Bremse’s technology center provides a wide range of research, engineering, and IT services to group entities worldwide, making it a key innovation hub.
The expanded complex is situated near the existing TCI development center, founded in 2012, which already hosts over 800 professionals in the modern suburb of Hinjawadi in Pune.
Thanks to intensive planning and rapid implementation, the new construction project, initiated in May 2023, was completed within a few months.
In the future, approximately 1,300 experts will work in product development, hardware and software engineering, IT modeling, and virtual testing at the center.
They will play a crucial role in advancing key innovations and group activities in areas such as next-generation train and truck braking systems.
The new complex adheres to green building standards, and its energy-efficient design will contribute to the facility’s climate neutrality, aligning with Knorr-Bremse’s 2030 climate strategy.

In accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement, key strategic objectives include reducing the group’s carbon emissions related to production by 75% compared to the 2018 baseline.
Among other efficiency measures, a significant portion of the new facility’s energy needs will be met by solar energy generated by panels installed on the roof.
