Via Rail Canada has reinstated their Canada Strong pass to encourage affordable winter celebrations. The service allows children to travel for free, and young individuals aged 18-24 can enjoy a 25% discount on all routes.

The deal applies to Economy class travel between December 12, 2025, and January 15, 2026, and includes all routes operated by VIA Rail in Canada. Families who have already made travel plans for this period can change their travel arrangements and obtain refunds.

According to officials, this renewal campaign promotes sustainable mobility with reduced travel expenses for families during one of the busiest times of the year for travel. At the same time, it allows VIA Rail to stand out in Canada for offering low-carbon transport.

Children Also Benefit by Canada Embracing Domestic Tourism

VIA Rail partnered with the Government of Canada on ‘Canada Strong’ tickets for Canadians to encourage travel across Canada. They had more than 50,000 ticket purchases for their summer edition and a record spending of $59 billion by tourists, largely comprised of Canadians.

Due to this success, the federal government is going to relaunch this scheme for 2026. This initiative demonstrates how eco-friendly trains can boost economic performance, minimize emissions, and encourage young commuters to choose sustainable transport.

Families can purchase discounted tickets with codes CANADAFAM and CANADA1824 via the official website for VIA Rail. They will also enjoy discounts on offers for museums and galleries, and free admission to all Parks Canada sites for the same period.
