According to the results of work in 2021, the utility company Kharkiv Metro received UAH 205 million in losses.

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the website of the public organization “Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center”.

According to experts of the anti-corruption center, the main causes of losses of the subway can be:

  • purchase of goods, services and works at inflated prices;
  • payment for services for cleaning, repair of rolling stock and escalators, which were carried out by the subway until 2009;
  • understatement of income from advertising activities, according to the conclusion of the State Audit Service.

In addition, according to activists, the income from the operation of a single electronic ticket (E-ticket) is received by the investing company “Payment Center”.

The activists also recalled that the Kharkiv subway operated at a loss for the previous three years: in 2018 – UAH 131 million, in 2019 – UAH 267 million, in 2020 – UAH 259 million.
