This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The proposed facelift is aimed at addressing basic gaps while improving passenger safety, comfort and overall functionality for regular users.

Scope of the Khapri railway station upgrade

Under the Rs4 crore infrastructure upgrade, the package covers all three platforms and extends to the rear side of the station, which has been neglected for years despite regular commuter usage. Railway officials say the effort is designed to strengthen core infrastructure and enhance basic urban railway facilities.

Passenger shelter, drainage and platform renewal

Alongside other Central Railway planned works, extensive roofing works are set to improve shed for passengers, particularly during the monsoon. Rainwater spouts and pipelines will also be added to support proper drainage across platforms and common areas and help avoid waterlogging. Platforms and circulation zones are scheduled to be resurfaced with 60mm paver blocks.

Power management, steel works and water supply upgrades

A dedicated electrical panel room forms a key part of the plan, intended to improve power management and operational safety. Structural steel works — including trusses and framed sections — will be delivered using riveted, bolted or welded systems, with primer coatings applied to enhance longevity. Water supply infrastructure is also due for an upgrade, with CPVC pipelines suitable for both hot and cold water, brass-threaded fittings and secure clamping. Stainless steel inverted conical basins are included as well, to improve hygiene and durability.

Reinforced concrete works are planned for beams, suspended floors, roofs, staircases, lintels and chajjas up to the fifth-floor level to support structural stability and safety. Officials add that the station upgrade is planned in line with growing commuter needs as surrounding areas continue to develop.
