Kurik Port in Kazakhstan is set to undergo significant infrastructure modernization, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The port will soon begin dredging operations to deepen the port by 1.5 to 2 meters, according to Aitkali Nurmagambetov, the port’s marketing sector head.

Currently, the port’s depth is at minus 35 meters relative to the zero level of the world’s oceans. Plans are in place to increase this depth to minus 36.5 meters.

Presently, the water level in the port area is about minus 29 meters. Upon completion of the dredging, the port’s depth will reach 7 to 7.5 meters.

These changes will facilitate the introduction of five new berths, significantly enhancing the port’s cargo handling capabilities and expanding its functional capabilities.
