“Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ) has updated the status of procurement of rolling stock

The national carrier reported that in 2023, its fleet received 112 locomotives from various manufacturers, 102 passenger cars from the “ZIKSTO” factory, and 242 freight cars (the main supplier being the subsidiary “Kazakhstan Carriage Building Company”), this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
KTZ also presented plans for further purchases.
The carrier plans to acquire over 550 locomotives:
– 100 shunting and mainline locomotives from CRRC,
– 130 freight electric locomotives KZ8A and 63 passenger KZ4AT from Alstom.
Additionally, by 2025, 3,000 freight cars for grain, coal, construction, and other cargo transportation are to be acquired, and by 2030, 537 passenger cars from Stadler.
