“Kazakhstan Railways” intend to raise freight tariffs to pay off debts, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
“Kazakhstan Railways” have submitted an application to the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan to increase coefficients, based on which tariffs for services of the main railway network for exporters are calculated.

The national carrier proposes to raise them in 2024 by 289% and in 2025 by 342%.
Thanks to the tariff increase, the company plans to increase revenues by 3.9 times – up to 535 billion tenge ($1.2 billion).
Out of this money, 179.6 billion ($0.4 billion) “Kazakhstan Railways” want to allocate for the repayment of their debts, which have accumulated to 2.9 trillion tenge ($6.49 billion).
The likely increase in tariffs worries Kazakh exporters due to the risks of reduced competitiveness and loss of markets.
