As part of the collaboration, Wabtec, Condor Energies Inc., and KTZ plan to coordinate the conversion of old locomotives and the production of new ones operating on LNG.

Condor is confident that the switch from diesel fuel to LNG will reduce costs and increase the speed of rail transport.

This will be made possible by increasing travel distances, reducing travel time, and lowering fuel and maintenance costs.

In November 2023, KTZ and Wabtec signed a memorandum of understanding that provided for the modernization of the locomotive fleet and their conversion to LNG.

In addition, the parties signed several other agreements worth over $2 billion.
