Kangra Valley narrow-gauge trains resume in December
Train services in this part of Himachal Pradesh were suspended in September after heavy rains and landslides hit the region. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal of the Jammu division of Northern Railway said it has now been decided to operate narrow-gauge trains again on the Kangra Valley section of the network.

Routes from Baijnath Paprola to Kangra and Joginder Nagar
In the first stage, narrow-gauge trains will operate on two pairs of services from Baijnath Paprola railway station to Kangra and one pair from Baijnath Paprola to Joginder Nagar, starting December 5. Singhal recalled that these trains were halted during heavy monsoon rains and landslides.
With the route now complete, Northern Railway expects the return of narrow-gauge train operations to serve both visitors and residents.
The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager noted that the service will not only boost tourism in the Kangra Valley but also provide an important transportation option for local residents, on a route also discussed by Railway Supply in its broader coverage of Indian narrow-gauge lines. Passengers are requested to check train schedules before undertaking their journey.
