Japanese company JR Central has announced plans to equip each of its high-speed trains in the N700S series, running on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, with two single or double occupancy compartments, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These compartments are a new addition to the first-class (Green) cars and promise passengers a higher level of comfort and privacy.

Inside each compartment will be one or two reclining seats with leg rests.

Passengers will also have access to Wi-Fi, individual lighting controls, air conditioning systems, and multimedia capabilities.

These changes will be implemented in the 2026 fiscal year, providing passengers with a more comfortable and convenient travel space.

Furthermore, JR Central plans to revise the seating arrangements in all classes of high-speed trains, focusing on passenger comfort and convenience.
