The Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has allocated €700 million for rolling stock upgrades, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The plan includes the purchase of 60 trains powered by overhead lines and hydrogen fuel cells for €525 million, 11 hydrogen trains for €139.3 million, and 2 electric trains for €35.7 million.

The procurement is part of the long-term investment plan of the national railway FS Group, presented in 2022.
