Wabtec plans to launch a test stand for diesel engines in Kazakhstan

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine contributed to the delay.

Certification from the German Federal Railway Authority (EBA) is expected to begin at the end of this year and take 5 months.

The customer, the passenger transport company VMS in Central Saxony, had planned to launch 11 three-car Coradia Continental trains with autonomous operation and a range of up to 120 km in December 2023, then mid-2024, but it is now postponed to late 2025.

Instead, 4 three-car double-decker push-pull trains from the German manufacturer Waggonbau Görlitz, financed by Alstom, will be temporarily used.
