Today, Pinchuk is in Dnipro, where he arrived to attend a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Yalta European Strategy (YES). Thus, the YES participants decided to show solidarity with Ukraine against the backdrop of the growing threat of a Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

“We are definitely together. Ukrainian business will be here, will invest and help. We actively participated in the fight against the pandemic, and with even greater energy and faith, we will participate together with everyone (in helping the country – ed.), if necessary (in the event of a military escalation – ed.),” Pinchuk said.

He drew attention to the fact that his business continues to implement investment projects. “We continue to invest in Ukraine, which means that we believe that everything will be fine here. Interpipe has invested about UAH 1.5 billion in the Ukrainian economy over the past month and a half. It is important. If we invest, we believe,” the businessman said.

The meeting of the YES Board of Directors in Dnipro was also attended by Kersti Kaljulaid, President of Estonia (2016-2021), Aleksander Kwasniewski, President of Poland (1995-2005); Carl Bildt, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden (2006-2014), Prime Minister of Sweden (1991-1994); Stefan Fuchs, Vice President of Havas Group, Executive Co-Chairman of Havas Worldwide.

“We are here to celebrate Unity Day in Ukraine, in Dnipro. This is a powerful signal for the whole world, which speaks of a potential war. But for the Ukrainian people, the war has been going on for 8 years. That is why we are here today to remind the world of this,” said Kersti Kaljulaid. She believes that there is still scope for de-escalation, but it depends on Russia.

“I hope that a peaceful solution will be found in this situation on the basis of international law. Ukraine stands for us, so we must stand for Ukraine. One for all and all for one, there can be no other, ”she added.

“At a time like this, international solidarity is needed. I am sure that NATO, the EU and the US, as the leader of the Western world, will do everything to ensure that support for Ukraine is not only in words, but also in actions,” said Alexander Kwasniewski.

According to the ex-president of Poland, the unity of the people in the face of the threat is also important for Ukraine: “Together with international solidarity, this will help Ukraine to go its own way at such a difficult and dangerous moment. Having such a potential, such a young generation, with whom we met today, there is every chance for the future of Ukraine in the European family.”

“The Ukrainian nation demonstrates determination and resilience to threats. We see your unity and integrity, independence and democracy. While you are protecting your country, you are also protecting other countries. Because if someone is allowed to violate the borders of one European country, it becomes a threat to all other European countries. We have come here to support and protect Ukraine. And at the same time, we thereby support and defend the freedom and democracy of all European states,” added Carl Bildt.

The YES Board of Directors intends to study the current situation in Ukraine and present the results of the analysis to international leaders at the Munich Security Conference, during which the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and YES will hold a “Ukrainian Lunch”. The conference will be held February 18-20.
