In India, the interior concept of sleeping cars for Vande Bharat trains has been unveiled, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

Renderings were shared on social media by the country’s Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, announcing their debut in 2024.

Previously, the CEO of the ICF plant (a part of Indian Railways), B.G. Malia, stated that the first prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeping train would be released in spring 2024.

Currently, the local company BEML is fulfilling an order from ICF for 10 such electric trains.

The train is expected to include 1 first-class car, 4 second-class cars, and 11 cars with three sleeping berths stacked on top of each other.

In total, the train is supposed to accommodate 823 passenger seats.

Additionally, another 80 trains will be produced by the consortium of Titagarh Wagons and BHEL.

There are plans to equip the Vande Bharat trains with sleeping cars featuring aluminum bodies, and there is a contract for 100 such units with Alstom.
