The Austrian logistics company created the Sgwrs wagon for transporting roundwood and timber materials, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

It consists of two articulated four-axle 45-foot platforms with 2.5m high overhead supports.

Ukrzaliznytsia is ready to offer container transportation

The wagon can carry 120 m³ of logs or 191 m³ of timber materials, with a maximum payload of 144 tons.

Additionally, it can transport ISO containers instead of wood, and this technology is currently being tested by Innofreight.

The first batch of 23 such wagons this year facilitates timber transport for the German company Schwaiger Holzindustrie.

The timber-loaded wagons, loaded at the sawmill in Hengersberg, are exported to ports in the North and Baltic Seas.

On the return journey through Germany, the wagons are loaded with roundwood, minimizing empty runs.
