Inland Rail Narromine to Narrabri section design work

Over the past three months, Inland Rail’s engineering team has been refining designs. The work covers the segment between Narromine and Baradine. The team is now working towards a preliminary design and a Flood Design Verification Report. Both have to be delivered under the project’s Conditions of Approval.

“Our hydrologists and engineers are working closely with technical experts from engineering consultancies WSP and Mott MacDonald to move this work forward,” Inland Rail said.

This work is being progressed through two key activities: flood model calibration and cross-drainage optimisation.

Geotechnical investigations and surveys

Last week, Inland Rail crews carried out geotechnical investigations. The work covered potential borrow-pit sites and several locations along the rail corridor.

In May, the cadastral team will conduct surveys at locations near Baradine.

There will also be geotechnical investigations at a small number of sites next month. A larger program of environmental and utilities surveys starting in June will follow.
