This decision comes after successful trials of the first two sets.
The Amrit Bharat Express trains will be assembled at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, a subsidiary of Indian Railways (IR).
These two-tier trains with WAP-5 locomotives at both ends are capable of accommodating up to 1800 passengers in 22 coaches and reaching speeds of up to 130 km/h.
They represent a significant interim solution to optimize traffic on Indian railways until all 200 Vande Bharat trains are operational.
Currently, India operates 41 Vande Bharat sets, with plans to expand their production soon.
These steps demonstrate India’s commitment to a modern, efficient, and sustainable railway system capable of providing comfort and safety for millions of passengers traveling across the country.
