The agreement brings BHASHINI’s speech recognition, text translation, text-to-speech, and OCR tools to platforms like the National Train Enquiry System and RailMadad. This helps millions of users receive real-time information in their preferred language.
CRIS Managing Director G.V.L. Satya Kumar emphasized that integrating AI will increase accessibility and transparency. BHASHINI CEO Amitabh Nag noted the move breaks down language barriers for railway passengers nationwide.
Indian Railways Expands Multilingual AI Across Platforms
The partnership extends beyond translations. It includes the co-development of voice assistants, multilingual chatbots, and over-the-counter enquiry tools, ensuring seamless support at stations and online through apps, websites, and kiosks.
Planned pilot projects and technical workshops will accelerate deployment. The solutions will function on cloud and on-premise systems, scaling effectively to serve passengers across urban and rural areas alike.
This initiative supports the Digital India vision and reflects India’s leadership in inclusive tech. Indian Railways continues to lead public service modernization by prioritizing accessibility in a linguistically diverse nation.
BHASHINI’s AI tools already support initiatives like the e-Shram portal and the Sansad Bhashini program. These platforms empower citizens by enabling real-time speech transcription and translation for workers and parliamentarians alike.
By expanding language access, Indian Railways helps millions engage more confidently with public systems. This partnership marks a strategic step in India’s journey toward equitable, technology-driven service delivery.
