Indian Railways Operates 1,702 Special Trains for Festivals

Indian Railways has introduced 1,702 special trains during Diwali and Chhath Puja to enable passengers to travel easily to their home towns and celebrate the festivals among their family members.

These special trains will run by the Central Railway from major stations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune, Kolhapur, and Nagpur. over 800 services connecting northern and eastern states Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal will be there.

Authorities disclosed that the special flights seek to accommodate the peak travel demand during the holidays. And as millions go home during the time, the move shall help decongest regular schedules and enhance the convenience of passengers.
Special Trains Supported by Safety and Digital Measures
In order to facilitate the operations, Central Railway has set up additional booking counters and holding areas at major stations. The waiting areas can accommodate more than 3,000 passengers and consist of food, water, toilet, and fan facility for relaxation.
Quick digital ticketing is provided by Mobile UTS services, and there are other counters to minimize waiting. The above steps show proactive action in the safety of passengers as well as efficiency in operations.
